West Coast Born, West Coast Inspired!
Originally founded as Birrer Sangret LLP, the partnership was re-branded in 2017 with an improved look that gives kudos to the B.C. topography of Nanaimo and Vancouver. Mt. Benson and Mt. Seymour represent strength, altitude and community and symbolize a metaphor for the partnership’s values. Benson Seymour LLP is the result of a dream that began in 2005 when Phil Birrer and Kyle Sangret met while studying accounting at Vancouver Island University. The dream was to create a business that combined environmental and technology innovation with exceptional service to provide the highest quality accounting experience with the greenest accounting offices. The end result is a world class system that delivers amazing services using less natural resources.
Growing up on Vancouver Island, countless hours were spent enjoying the outdoors and everything the beautiful province of British Columbia has to offer. From summers spent hiking, biking, or swimming, to winters spent snowboarding in the mountains, both grew a deep connection to nature, and an understanding that they wanted to have some part in protecting and preserving it. Just as their desire to provide quality service helped them develop their quality management systems, Kyle and Phil’s environmental awareness was also a huge part of the business development decisions.
You will find Phil managing the Nanaimo office. Phil loves to exercise and giving back to the community. In addition to his involvement in the cycling community and facilitating students in the CPA Professional Education Program, he is a volunteer board member for the Mid Island Velo Association and the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation.
Reaching out to the Cowichan Valley, Kyle manages the Cobble Hill office. Kyle believes in lifelong learning and strengthening the financial literacy of Canadians. He is a volunteer with the Chartered Professional Accountants national Financial Literacy Program and delivers small business seminars locally. Kyle is also a business mentor with Cape Brenton University’s In.Business Program, a National Mentorship Program for Indigenous Youth, delivered in partnership with Vancouver Island University.
